Fun with Fishing line

This may sound like a how to book for doing something that most likely is illegal where ever you live. I asked the local chief of police how long is the statute of limitations for minor crimes, and after his answer I decided I would continue. But if I were to talk to an attorney I’m sure he would tell me to put in a disclaimer, I believe you shouldn’t do any of these things. Now fishing line isn’t a dangerous substance – but I guess some of these things could cause an accident or bring someone a little distress. When we were kids there was no such thing as a Wii, game cube or play station. We would have to make our own fun. Once in a while we would come up with some inventive things. Who’s idea it was or if it was copied from someone else made no difference? But with a little fishing line and a couple of house hold items we could have fun for hours. Many kids, us include would spend time toilet papering and egging. In order not to get caught we needed to be creative – egging with fishing line, that’s right egging with fishing line. OK here’s the how to section. You need to throw the fishing line over a power line that crosses a fairly traveled road. Make sure the line ends about the same height as a normal windshield, wrap or tape an egg to the end of the fishing line. For better result spray the egg with black spray paint, making sure the egg isn’t seen until it is broken on the coming cars windshield. Then you need to sit in a location – most likely under a light at a distance or angle that would make it impossible to be the one that could have thrown an egg. Then wait. This is like normal fishing – it takes a little time but when you catch one it was well worth it. Upon impact it is a perfect hit, all glass. On one such occasion the car stopped and then he asked us if we saw who threw the egg – we pointed the other direction and said, “they went that way.” Then after a short time you just reload the fishing line and wait. The next fun requires fishing line and a purse or plastic duck. The success of the duck is somewhat dependent on how realistic the duck actually looks. We would place the chosen prop in the middle of the road attached to the fishing line – if you are using the purse it is important that the purse remains still until the driver decides to stop and pick it up. Then as he would try to pull up alone side it to pick it up, we would pull it under their car making the driver back up and try again. Eventually it was pulled all the way off the road as the driven realized he had been taken. The same concept exists with the duck – except it is to be moving or rocking slightly. This would require the drivers to slow down and even stop, usually honking their horns to make the duck get out of the way. Most likely the car passes on the other side, but occasionally a passenger with get out trying to convince the duck to get out of the way. These are harmless pranks that depending on the drivers and your practice can be quite entertaining, Our final Fun With Fishing Line – takes little more line a very small hook and a little planning to find the best escape route. Your chosen victim should also have some kind of screens on the doors or windows. The small hook is placed in the upper corner of the screen the line attached – let out enough line to cross the street and hide in a dark corner or bush. Then pull the line tight and pluck or stroke the line making a number of noises load enough for investigation. At first the victim will look out the window or come outside. When no one is seen they begin to look out other windows or try to sneak around the house to catch the prankster. A required piece of equipment is a small knife or fingernail clippers. If the line is seen or discovered the line is cut and the escape is made at the proper timing. If the pursuit starts immediately and because of your long head start – you should easily outrun the victim or you picked the wrong house and need to start exercising more.
